An Exciting (and late) Announcement

It’s been a while since I’ve written a post, and there are many reasons for that. Partly, I’ve been busy with LSAT studying and law school interviews. However, the even bigger reason is I’ve been struggling on a much more personnel level. Right now, however, I want to focus on this amazing opportunity I’ve been given that has been a brightness through the difficulties: I got into Author Mentor Match (AMM) and am the mentee of the amazing Rebekah Faubion!

If you’ve been following AMM you’re probably wondering why I waited months after the initial reveal to blog about it. The truth is I didn’t really believe it could be true. Sure, it sounds silly, but it’s the truth. When my name was on that list I was overjoyed—top it off with the fact that I was being mentored by a writer whose bio I had connected with right away and I couldn’t ask for more! Yet right after that initial rush came this fear that my name wasn’t meant to be on the list, that Rebekah would suddenly decide she didn’t want to work with me, that somehow things wouldn’t come through. This was by no means Rebekah’s fault. She was kind and encouraging right from the start, motivating me to look at my novel in new and exciting ways. It was my own fears coming through that kept me whispering the news to only very, very few.

I’m glad to say the fears have mostly settled now, and so the joy is finally hitting me full force. I got into AMM!!!!! My current manuscript A Wolf Named Lucas, is a story that speaks to my heart and I’m so glad to be able to work with a mentor who gets that and has the tools to help me make it shine. The next few months will be a lot of editing (I was forewarned, and am ready to go), and I hope by the end I’ll have a novel that will speak to many readers and maybe make a small difference in their lives.

So happy New Year, guys! And here’s to a new year of editing!
